- If one of these links are disrupted, it has a knock on effect on the ecosystem. So it’s important to protect each individual in the ecosystem.
- We are in a catastrophic position now where we need to take immediate action.
- Due to humans misbehaving, taking more resources from the environment than we need has had an impact on biodiversity.
- Making an individual impact is a small but positive effect on biodiversity.
- Native Irish Wildflower Seeds creates an environment, food & shelter for pollinators.
- Pollinators include bees, beetles, butterflies, moths to name a few.
- They are crucial to the ecosystem to work. They want to pollinate plants.
- Growing wildflower seeds helps the pollinators is most beneficial as it’s the ones they’re used to. It also helps more native species to grow.
- The flowers that grow include corn marigold, corn poppy, wild chamomile & cornflour. They all bloom at once & create an abundance of colour.
- You can sow the seeds in the Autumn, they will grow in the early summer. If you sow the seeds in Spring they will grow later in the Summer.
- You can plant wildflower seeds in pots, window planters or in a garden. So it can be done whether you have a garden or not.
- To grow in the garden, prepare the grass 4 – 5 weeks in advance. Remove the grass & the top of the soil. If weeds grow in the process remove them before scattering the seeds.
- If you have clay rich soil sow the seeds in the Spring.
- You can observe the wildlife that visit the wildflowers & take note of them. You can check out the National Biodiversity Data Centre & record the creatures in your pollinator patch.

- Plant some wildflower seeds in your garden or flower pots to creat a more biodiverse garden.
- Watch your garden grow some colourful flowers all the while attracting pollinators.
- You can observe your pollinating visitors & record them on the National Biodiversity Data Centre.
