This week we looked at Offaly County Councils Climate Action Plan 2024-2029.
Local authorities mandated to prepare climate action plans under Climate Action and Low Carbon Development (Amendment) Act 2021 Section 12B (2)
The Climate Action Plan will set out progressive actions devised to promote a combination of adaptation and mitigation measures to bring about transformative climate action to 2030.
Plans prioritize evidence-based measures for climate neutrality at local and community levels.
Offaly County Council will be required to reduce its Green House Gas Emissions by 51% by 2030 and increase its energy efficiency by 50%.
The vision for Offaly will be to transition to a climate resilient, biodiversity rich, environmentally sustainable and climate neutral economy.
The Climate Action Team in Offaly County Council are currently in pre-draft stage preparing the Plan.
