Did You Know:
- 5 million single use plastic bottles are used and disposed of in Ireland every day.
- UN projections for population growth, consumption and climate change, by 2030 humanity will need the capacity of two Earths to absorb CO2 waste and keep up with natural resource consumption.
- Cork County Council have set up a Circular Economy Fund to encourage communities to take action around the circular economy.
- The circular economy is the approach to avoid linear use of items, instead of making, using, taking and disposing of items we should be more circular in reusing, repairing and recycling so materials are in circulation for a lot longer.
- Schools have started to install water fountains in schools to eliminate single use plastic.
- Some schools were seeing 200 – 300 hundred single use plastic bottles being used in school each day.
- The Circular Economy Fund has expanded to GAA organisations, community organisations and festivals to follow suit.

- When we buy products to think of their circularity and longevity.
- We need to look at our consumption and how we consume. It takes energy to create, transport and dispose of it.
