• Germany has the highest rate of plastic recycling in Europe, with 98% of material reused. Ireland’s rate is just over 60%.
• Deposit return schemes have been implemented in 14 European countries to date, with the legislation adopted in a further 10.
• One of the world’s first deposit return schemes was implemented in Norway in the 1970s.
