A collaboration between UCC and MAS was announced at the official opening of the Cork Summer Show last year. The Munster Agricultural Society has provided funding for the development of a Farmland Biodiversity Education and Research Programme. A two-acre research site for plot-based research in soil and grassland science has been loaned to UCC by MAS. The Cork Summer Show 2024 takes place on June 15th and 16th and at this year’s show, people will be able to see a demonstration area as part of the collaboration. A Farmland Biodiversity lecturer is set to be appointed in the coming months.
