This week 96FM talked with Wendy Hickey and Andrea Sivieri about refill shops in Ireland and the impact they can have on local communities.  

Did you know… 

Ireland generated 1.12 million tonnes of packaging waste in 2020. This was the fourth year in a row that Ireland’s packaging waste generation exceeded one million tonnes.                                                                                                Unless a shop defines itself by strict guidelines around sustainability and goes the extra mile to prove its efforts, then there is usually more that it could be doing.

What you can do… 

 Visit one of the many refill shops on offer in Cork or find online minimal waste shops.
