Did You Know:
- Creating greener spaces sis not just good for the environment, nature and biodiversity, but also for our wellbeing.
- Libraries are starting a seed library bank where you can get seeds to sow. People can take, borrow, grow and donate seeds. Take the seeds, grow them, use seeds from your plant to donate back to the library.
- They accept fruit, veg and flower seeds.
- The information packet has the previous owner’s name, tips on how to plant those seeds and when best. People can contact previous planters for further tips.
- You can grow lots of fruit and veg in home if you don’t have a garden. Easy options are potatoes from a bucket, tomatoes on a sunny spot on the windowsill and carrots and lettuce froma grow bag.
- If people don’t have the patience or time to grow fruit and veg, wildflower seeds are an easier alternative for people who don’t have a green finger.
- They are low maintenance and vary from corn marigold, corn poppy, wild chamomile, cornflour. They all bloom at once.
- Sow in spring or autumn.
- They can also be used on windowsills or the garden.
- They grow with colours and attract all new creatures to the garden creating a simple biodiverse space.
What You Can Do:
- Whether you have a garden at home or not garden at all, you can still create green spaces in the home from fruit, veg, plants and wildflowers. Every little effort helps.
