Did You Know:
- The BRIDE Project (Biodiversity Regeneration In a Dairying Environment) is an innovative agri-environment project based in the River Bride of north-east County Cork and west Waterford, Ireland.
- The project aims to design and implement a results-based approach to conserve, enhance and restore habitats in lowland intensive farmland.
- Farmers who section land for biodiversity, nature restoration and conservation receive payment based on the quantity and quality of the land and it’s impact on biodiversity.
- Wetlands, marshes and bog lands that are usually not used for farming production purposes or certain land where crop can’t grow is often disregarded in farmland due to the fact that it doesn’t help with production.
- So the incentive is to pay farmers for regenerating this land and for the impact it has on the environment.
What You Can Do:
- Section farmland for biodiverse spaces.
- Map the land and introduce flora and fauna to suit the type of land and regenerate nature to create a habitat for wildlife.
