Sailing is a Green Sport so the Irish National Sailing School developed a Climate Action Plan in order to become more sustainable. Here are some of the changes they made to their organisation.
Transport for the staff in the Irish National Sailing School is important when considering their carbon footprint:
- Kenny Rumball was awarded up to three thousand euro with the Cargo Bike to Work Scheme so he can cycle to and from work with the scheme.
Changes made in the office in the Irish National Sailing School:
- Complimentary Water Filling Station
- Plastic free and Paperless Cafe Area
Changes made to the engines:
- The Safety Craft Engine has been replaced with ultra modern high efficiency four stroke engines, allowing for fuel consumption to diminish.
- The Teaching Yacht which originally used a diesel engine to get on and off the marina is being switched to an electric engine.
