In this week’s episode of Ours to Protect Max takes a look at Merck’s Curiosity Cube as it gets set to return to Arklow.
The Curiosity Cube will be back in the Tesco, Arklow car park on the 1st June. This year’s theme is Sustainability.
Children will be able to take part in 3 hands-on experiments based on the lifecycle of a t-shirt. They will use modular electronics and other scientific tools and will look at synthetic and natural fibres under a microscope. They will:
- Design and build windmills.
- Look at the process for recycling old t-shirts.
- Investigate the effect of dyes on the environment.
Children will be encouraged to consider the use they get out of t-shirts and how long they live after they’ve been discarded. They will also look at what they can do with old t-shirts once they’ve outgrown them.
