This week Highland Radio spoke to ECO-UNESCO about the Young Environmentalist Awards.
Emissions Gap Report 2023 published this week:
- From the beginning of January until the beginning of October 86 days were recorded with temperatures over 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels.
- September was the hottest recorded month.
- Global greenhouse gas emissions increased by 1.2% from 2021 to 2022 – a new record of 57.4 Gigatonnes of Carbon Dioxide Equivalent
- If current policies don’t change, global warming will be 3°C above pre-industrial levels in this lifetime.

Young Environmentalist Awards
- The Young Environmentalist Awards (YEA) aims to empower young people aged 10-18 to take on local environmental issues.
- There are three age categories and a number of topics that can be covered.
- Groups who REGISTER online take part in a free ‘6 Steps to Success’ regional training.
