This week on Ours to Protect we took a look at what the young people of Kerry are doing to help the environment.

We visited Meán Scoil an Leith-Triúigh and spoke to some students about their climate protection projects.

Did you know?…..

Two of the teams from the school were awarded earlier in the year in Eco UNESCO Young Environmentalist Awards.

Eco Empire and Habitat Heroes were honoured for their work protecting the environment.

Eco-Empire created a geo-park, a remembrance garden and an outdoor garden, including a polu-tunnel.

Their slogan is TEAM – Together Everyone Achieves More.

Habitat Heroes focused on marine protection and beach cleans.

They worked to educate themselves on the issues and even made a book to encourage children to get involved in beach cleans.

How can I help?…

The students gave a lot of advice for anyone interested in environmental projects.

Don’t let the weather put you off, sometimes getting out in the rain can be a lot of fun!

It can feel like a lot of work, but it is worth it.

Don’t be afraid to ask for help.

A little effort made often can go a long way.
