Did you know?…..

The Wild Mind festival aims to celebrate nature all around us.

It took place in Fenit over the weekend and offered people the opportunity to learn and engage in a number of activities focusing on the beauty of our natural world and how we can help to protect it.

The festival hopes to inspire people to immerse themselves in the environment and all it has to offer.

The festival was opened on Friday by scientist, inventor, and sustainability advocate Fionn Ferreira.

Fionn is passionate about cleaning up the environment by removing microplastic from the water.

This led him to developing a magnet-based invention to remove microplastics from the environment in his teens.

Microplastics are tiny particles of plastics that result from the breakdown of larger plastics and commercial products.

These are harmful to humans and wildlife.

How to help?….

If you want to avoid microplastics in your home an important place to start is looking at the material of your clothes.

Clothes of certain materials, such as polyester and acrylic can result in the release of microplastics in your home.

Thinking about the material of your clothes can help reduce microplastics in your home.

Another tip is to try to reduce plastic consumption.

Fionn recommends challenging yourself to cut out one single use plastic product a week.
