- Blackwater is Wexford’s most successful village in terms of awards and wins from various tidy towns competition.
- In July 2023 Members of Blackwater Tidy Towns Committee were invited to County Hall, Wexford, where a fantastic achievement in being named Irelands Best Kept Village was acknowledged by Cathaoirleach of Wexford County Council Cllr John Fleming in the presence of local Cllr Oliver Walsh.
- The Best Kept Town Competition is an all-island competition that recognises the great pride people have in their own communities and is testament to how local volunteers take ownership of their local area and work to improve them, for both now and into the future.
- The awards were presented by Minister Heather Humphreys at a ceremony held in Farmleigh House in Phoenix Park.
- In October 2022, Blackwater has been named Wexford’s tidiest town for the third year in succession and, in addition, the tidiest town in the south east region. Having earned bronze medals in 2019 and 2021 Blackwater jumped straight to gold 2022.
