Did you know about The Clovelly?
- Founded by Joe O Connor in summer of 2023
- The Clovelly coffee shop is located on Common Quay Street, near the Bullring in the very heart of Wexford town
- Joe was working away in a full-time permanent teaching role in Drogheda and living in Dublin, when a global hit.
- Joe decided to set up a coffee van at the side of the road near Piercestown called ‘Divil’s Brew’ enlisting the help of his cousin and fellow hurler Rory O’Connor. That grew into The Clovelly.
- The shop provides all types of coffee and hot drinks as well as toasties, acai bowls and sweet treats.
- Joe has employed two other staff members to keep up with growing popularity.
- Joe roasts his own coffee which he learned to do in Australia.
- Australia is certainly at the heart of the coffee shop too and it takes its name after Clovelly Road in Sydney where Joe lived during his 12 months there.
New recycling Initiative:
- The Clovelly has successfully started an initiative where all it’s cups and bowls used are fully recyclable.
- They also allow customers to take home coffee grounds for their gardens
Killarney One Cup Campaign:
- Last July over 45 businesses agreed to swap their single-use cups in-store and instead implement the 2GoCup Deposit and Return scheme as their option for takeaway drinks.
- This, coupled with ceramics where applicable and the opportunity to bring your own cup is the perfect solution to the throw-away disposable lifestyle of single-use cups. This project has been co-funded by the Kerry County Council, Killarney Chamber of Tourism & Commerce, Killarney National Park & Department of Housing, Local Government & Heritage, and Killarney Tourism Board.
- From the 31st of July all participating businesses stopped providing single-use cups to customers buying takeaway coffee. Instead customers were encouraged to bring their own reusable cup, sit in and enjoy their coffee in a delph cup or avail of 2GoCups for a €2 deposit.
- This Cup can be swapped for a clean cup with their next coffee or dropped int any business for their €2 back!
