- The award was given at the 18th Annual Session of the Forum in Dubai
- This was a COP28 associated event.
- Previous winners include Vienna, Vancouver, Oakland, Curtiba, Nantes, Mannheim and Yokohoma.
- Dublin City now joins a group of cities that must continue to lead on the global stage and be active in our commitment to sustainable urban development that is green, fair, smart, and transformative.
- Dublin’s application was evaluated based on 85 indicators in key areas that determined Dublin City’s performance in areas such as Sustainable Urban Development, Climate Action, Transport, and Nature based solutions.
- Dublin City Council acknowledges not just DCC staff but the people of Dublin in their commitment to realising a city that is sustainable, smart and climate neutral
- The goal of Dublin City Council through the Climate Action Plan is for Dublin to transition to a climate resilient, biodiversity-rich, environmentally sustainable and climate neutral economy by 2050
