This week 96FM talked with MEP for Ireland South Grace O’Sullivan about the upcoming Nature Restoration Law going to vote in the European Parliament.
Did you know…
- 1 in 3 bee and butterfly species are in decline
- More than 50% of global GDP (gross domestic product) depends on nature. This can include farming and fishing, as well as construction and health. 40% of the world’s land is degraded – meaning, soil quality is low because of excess use, chemical treatments and improper management.
- Our global food systems are responsible for 80% of deforestation and 70% of freshwater use worldwide. This is the single largest problem impacting our planet’s health. Up to 70% of EU soil is in an unhealthy condition.
What you can do…
- Contact your MEP to let them know how you feel about the upcoming legislation. Read more about the legislation and be informed about the policy,
